Alverno is one of the nation’s largest Catholic women’s colleges. You’ll be surrounded by supportive classmates and professors, and our location gives you easy access to all Milwaukee has to offer.

Making The Grade
What if your education were all about you, and how you could become the best possible version of yourself? Everything about Alverno is designed for your success. Your education here will enable you to change, think, act and encounter the world in a whole new way. We also believe stepping out of your comfort zone is the first step to uncovering what you are made of. No matter what career you pursue, your education will take you beyond the classroom and in the field, pushing you to try new things, take on challenges and lead with a purpose.

We’ve been educating women since 1887, and we think we’re pretty good at what we do. But here’s the thing about Alverno. We never stop learning, growing, changing, adapting…and our students don’t either.

The 8 Abilities are the cornerstone of an Alverno education. These are core skills for life: Communication, Problem Solving, Social Interaction, Effective Citizenship, Analysis, Valuing, Aesthetic Engagement and Developing a Global Perspective. No matter your field, the 8 Abilities will fuel your success. Our ability-based approach ensures that you’ll learn more in class and retain knowledge longer.

An engaging academic environment is just the start of your Alverno experience. Life on our campus is busy and vibrant. Student organizations of all kinds, athletic events, performing arts, thought-provoking forums — there’s always an opportunity to connect, to learn, to have fun and to try something new. Resident or commuter, our campus is your home.

At Alverno, our goal is to help you find a smart, sensible path to pay for your education. Last year, 100% of Alverno’s full-time undergraduates who filed for assistance and demonstrated need received aid. Each student’s circumstances are different, and our staff is committed to helping you make the choices that are right for you.

3 Things Families Should Know
Alverno offers generous merit-based scholarships and competitive scholarships, including our full-tuition Roosevelt Scholarship, which is awarded to a first year student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and volunteerism.

Service to other is a big part of Alverno’s mission. We offer students the opportunity to participate in programs such as Community Day, Alternative Spring Break, St. Ben’s Community Meals, Election Worker Training and more.

Haven’t decided on a major? Don’t worry — There’s plenty of time to explore the options. Think of our Career Studio as your one-stop shop for internships, career counseling, resume workshops, job search strategies and more.
