Music Plays a Central Roll at Bethany

Many world renowned artists have traveled to Lindsborg to perform and teach. A large number of students, both music majors and nonmajors participate in campus music ensembles, lessons, and classes. Large choral and instrumental ensembles tour both regionally and internationally, and a variety of large and small ensembles enable students of all levels of ability to develop their musical skills, find personal enjoyment, and become part of Bethany’s close musical community.

As members of the Bethany Oratorio Society, students join in the tradition of performing Handel’s “Messiah” during Holy Week- a tradition that dates back to 1882, making Bethany Oratorio Society the longest running annual performance of Handel’s Messiah in North America. The Department of Music has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) since 1935.
